Dog vomit does not fluoresce, but is visible anyway. Very happy with this unit. Attach wand to hose and insert battery for black light. Overall, very impressed with this unit.
The unit is very portable and easy to use. When we received ours, we cleaned eight previous stained areas in about 15 minutes, including set up and cleaning the unit when done. The cleaning solution is easy to fill, and the dirty water tank cleans easily. The solution does spay a few inches wider than the suction tool, but since you are cleaning small areas anyway, it is no big deal.
The black light works well. The pre-treat solution even removed a grease stain that we found under our recliner when we were going after the dried vomit. Practically nothing to assemble. We used the pre-treat spray on a dark orange dried vomit stain the was not noticed for several days, then used the extracter, and the stain was totally cleaned in only a minute or so of work.
And only body fluid type stains. That's it. Other reviews say it is too dim, but only the stain will fluoresce under black light.
The 'light' is useless, but it was a good idea.We really like this, and once we've worn it out, will likely get another one. As previously recommended by other reviewers, we just keep this little beauty filled up and ready to go, and within a few moments of discovering an 'oops' it's cleaned-up and taken care of. We have a large number of pets, and our carpeting was getting ruined because of the several mistakes of elderly and young pets. This is the perfect solution.
I went to a pet store and purchased a larger one, which wasn't very expensive and very useful.The Dirt Devil is extremely easy to use and I appreciate that fact. Since I seem to have emergencies quite often this works just great for me. I just might contact the company and order an extra solution tank.I agree with other reviews that the black light is worthless. If you are a pet owner how can you NOT live without the Dirt Devil SE3890 Purpose for Pets Portable Extractor.When I come across items I always check on Amazon first. The recovery tank and solution tank just pop on and off with ease and it stores easily with its' slim design.I have a very large steam cleaner which is much too large for small jobs and this one is just terrific.My only complaint, and a small one at that, is the fact that the cord is just a little too short but not really a big deal. I received this item a few weeks ago and I just can't say enough about.I have two dogs, one being 16 years old and many, many accidents. I ordered this item right away and at a great price from Amazon. I did what one reviewer suggested -- keeping the solution in the tank for emergencies (I take the solution tank off the unit and store it).
I didn't use the pet stain finder, just the cleaner/extractor component and I now have to go and do the whole carpet because the difference this machine made was remarkable. Wonderful product, was happily surprised with this great little machine. This machine is small enough for me to use and clean up is a breeze. I also have a full size steam cleaner but it is too heavy for me to clean after use. I have a 222 pound 8year old English Mastiff with bladder control issues. I saw this machine on line and was a bit skeptical but boy was I happily surprised.
The seats look brand new. This Dirt Devil is the perfect machine to have around the house for when your pet(s) have an accident of any kind. There are so many other uses for it. I would recommend this Dirt Devil to anyone, even if you don't have pets. It does a great job of getting out the stains. We have also used it to clean the carpets and upholstery in our cars.
